Project Overview

About This Project

This brand strategy project demonstrates our full branding capability: we begin with a positioning workshop and competitive landscape audit before defining the brand’s personality, visual language, and tone of voice. The deliverable includes a complete design system, motion principles, and a 60-page brand guidelines document — built collaboratively with the founding team throughout.

Goal

Create a comprehensive brand identity for a B2C fintech startup that communicates trust, clarity, and modernity — differentiating the brand from both legacy financial institutions and aggressive neo-bank challengers while remaining approachable for first-time investors.

The Problem

What Typically Goes Wrong in This Situation

Generic Fintech Aesthetic

The fintech market is saturated with brands using the same blue-gradient palette, abstract line-art illustrations, and generic trust copy. Standing out requires a clear point-of-difference grounded in real brand strategy, not visual preference.

Trust vs. Approachability Tension

Financial brands must project trust and stability — but first-time investors and younger demographics are repelled by corporate visual language. The brand needs to hold both values simultaneously.

Inconsistent Brand Expression

Without a codified design system, brands fragment across channels. Web, app, social media, and offline materials start to feel like different companies — eroding the brand equity built by each individual touchpoint.

No Tone of Voice Framework

Visual identity without a corresponding verbal identity makes brand governance impossible. Marketing, product, and customer support drift into inconsistent voices that undermine the overall brand impression.

The Solution

Our Strategy & Approach

01

Brand Strategy & Positioning

Ran a 2-day brand positioning workshop covering: brand archetypes, competitive mapping, audience personas, brand pillars, and a core positioning statement that became the strategic foundation for all visual and verbal decisions.

02

Visual Identity Design

Designed a distinctive wordmark, icon system, and colour palette — anchored by a deep teal primary with warm amber accents — that communicates both financial credibility and approachable modernity.

03

Complete Design System

Built a production-ready Figma component library: typography scale, colour tokens, icon set, button states, form elements, card patterns, and illustration style guide — all responsive and documented.

04

Tone of Voice & Brand Guidelines

Delivered a 60-page brand guidelines document covering: brand story, mission/vision/values, visual system, typography rules, photography style, illustration guidelines, and a tone-of-voice framework with do/don't examples.
